Making the best out of a lagged out, hacker central and error game is discouraging to play. Then, when you find one that really interests your gaming desires, you want to find every possible loop hole to your problems. As every game has their problems; we do our very best in fixing them just for you. Possibly you got killed by your internet connection instead of the enemy player? Let’s find out what the problem may be, and get your PC on the right track for the next round of Company of Heroes 2: The Western Front Armies.
1.)    Are you getting a connection error at the main menu?
This means you are failing to connect to the server. Here are some steps to help troubleshoot it:
·       Open a web browser and follow this link: https://coh2-lobby.reliclink.com/game/version/checkstatus
·       It should bring you to a web page that says: [“ok”]
·       If it does not then you need to make sure that TCP port 443 is open
·       If it does work, the most likely issue is that your firewall and/or antivirus software is blocking COH2. To fix this:
i.                     Whitelist the COH2 executable (RelicCoH2.exe) in your firewall and/or antivirus software
ii.                   Disable your firewall and/or antivirus software
2.)   Are you getting a connection error when entering the multiplayer setup screen?

3.)  Does your game work fine at the beginning of a match, but later on there is an increase of lag amount?
This means you have a frame rate/performance issue on your PC.
·       The fix to this issue is to turn down your graphics settings, and be sure your PC meets the minimum requirements to run the game.
4.)   Does your game crash and have a complete system shut down?
This means the temperature threshold being exceeded and a failsafe on the computer switching it off. The game may be forcing your graphics card to draw more power and create more heat than normal.
·       To find out if your device is overheating easily install a Benchmark like Furmark (this one generates serious heat) or Aquamark.
5.)   Is your game in compatibility mode and you want to get rid of it?
Compatibility mode means windows set a program to run in a mode that emulates a previous version of the operating system installed on your PC. To make sure the game or steam is not in compatibility mode you must do the following:

b.      Right click on the steam.exe file selecting properties from the menu
i.                     Go to the compatibility tab
ii.                   Make sure everything is unchecked, if anything is checked then uncheck it and click apply (don’t close the dialog yet)
iii.                  Click on the “change settings for all users” button

·       Start Steam
·       Run COH2
6.)   Are you still getting a compatibility warning after turning it off?
This means windows set the compatibility mode in a registry key that can’t be toggled off with the UI. You have to delete the corresponding registry entries. To remove the registry keys manually do the following:
·       Completely exit COH2 and Steam
·       Run regedit (start menu -> run -> regedit)
·       Back up your registry just in case you delete or change the wrong key (use export) and delete the keys inside this locations that mention these programs (in the right panel of regedit right click on the line with the .exe and select delete)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Compatibility Assistant\Persisted
·       Exit regedit
·       Start Steam
·       Run COH2
7.)   Is your game complaining about being an out of date version?
Simply restart steam so it starts downloading and patching the game to a newer version.
8.)   How do I force the game to start in windowed mode?
Use the command line parameter – window to run the game. If you are launching the game from steam then right click in the game, select properties, and then click on the “set launch options” and place the command line parameters you want to pass to the game in there
9.)  Do you want to know where your screenshots ended up?
Simply go in your windows user Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes 2\screenshots folder.
10.)                     Needing help updating your drivers?

I hope this helped solve some of your issues with the game – now have some happy gaming!
